Scripture Reference: Luke 15:11-32
Prodigal-A person who spends money, resources, their time in a recklessly, extravagant way. Using their money and time in a way that’s not very wise.
Signs of a Prodigal:
- Lacks sense (Proverbs 6:32-33 he who commits adultery lacks sense)
- Spiritually dead
- Has separated themselves from God
- Someone who is lost (lost-unable to find one’s way, strayed away from their faith in God, off the right track)
- Suffers from the Orphan Spirit (Luke 15:21NIV “I am no longer worthy to be called your son.” The Prodigal son got his worth from his material possession and now that it’s gone he doesn’t feel worthy. Children of God get their worth from their Heavenly Father and how God sees and thinks about them. When you are a son of God you are worthy simply because God said so.)
- Has the spirit of prostitution in operation within them.
Prostitution-to commit fornication, be a harlot, to commit adultery, to be a cult prostitute, to be unfaithful to God, whoredom and whorish.
Cult-A misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular person or thing. A group of people with extreme dedication to a certain leader or set of beliefs that are often viewed as odd by others.
